Raw Art Term 4 Photos

October 23, 2009

Hi!

These are some photos of the finished products of our Raw Art activity that we did on Tuesday.  They look fantastic!  It might take a sec to load up after you click the link if you have a slow connection.

clickyclicky

Before you ask what they are, we did ‘Fantasy Cityscapes’.  It was interesting, and the children really had to think while they were designing their Cityscape.  This was a great group work activity.

Good job kids!

Mr Skippen & Mrs Thomas

Welcome to Term 4!

October 4, 2009

We are slowly moving towards the end of Year 3.  I hope everyone had a lovely mid semester break.  Term 4 is full of learning, assessment and fun!  Below are some announcements:

We have swimming every Friday starting in week 2; we will go on the bus to the Albany Creek Leisure Centre at about
10:00 and come back just in time for first break.

Jade A will have a pre-service teacher starting in week 2.  Her name is Mrs Thomas.  She will be with us for 6 weeks to work with the children and practise her teaching skills.  Welcome Mrs Thomas!

Report cards should be out in about week 7.  It’s great that the Jade A children are so wonderful because I have such a great time writing so many nice things on report cards :)

From week 3, Mrs Axten will be teaching year 6, so Mrs Rozynski will be coming in on Tuesday afternoons for Health lessons.

The boys are back!  Eden has been away for a few months and has now returned to Brisbane and Jade A.  Welcome back Eden!

Our classroom has a new coat of paint on it, and in the next couple of weeks we will also have new carpet.

Mrs Skippen and I have been officially transferred to Karumba State School next year.  We are very excited!  I will miss Eatons Hill, the teachers and families, and especially the Jade A children, but will keep in touch one way or another!  Here are some links with a bit of information about Karumba:  http://karumba.qld.au/  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karumba,_Queensland

Wedding photos (not homework!)

July 28, 2009

Hi parents and children!

After some encouragement, here are some photos from our wedding. Have a look if you feel the need :)

Click the links to open the pics.

Mrs Skippen was very beautiful

And was very classy

She made the jewelery and her Mum made the dresses

She had a lovely bouquet.

And here’s another one.

Here are the girls.  The one on the left is Elyse’s step sister Lissa, and the other two are my sisters.

The engagement ring with some flowers. Very girly.

And some good looken blokes. From right to left, Me, my two brothers, and Mrs Skippen’s brother.

Nerves are setting in for me…

And the bride…

We had 100 guests.

b)

Mum’s little boy was all grown up.  Tears (and hilarity) ensue.

It was actually happening.

You may kiss the bride (ew!).

Signing the forms.

My family

Celebrations begin.

Out in front of the house

We’re off

b)

Up on the mountain

Oh, what a feeling!

The happy couple

Another one on the mountain

Back at the house

The reception area

And finally, me giving the royal wave

Week 6

May 22, 2009

So…

It seems we need to build an enclosure to start with.

What sorts of tools would we need to build such a big structure?  What materials would we need for the enclosure?

Write down at least 3 materials or tools we could use.  Before you answer – think about the Brachiosaur and materials that would be suitable for it to live near.

Week 5 Homework

May 17, 2009

Hi kids

Have a look at this picture of the Brachiosaurus.

Have a think…

What sorts of things would we have to think about if we were to design an enclosure for the Brachiosaurus? What would we have to do to ensure that the Brachiosaurus is safe and happy?

Find a website showing some information about your dinosaur

May 10, 2009

Hi kids!

Use google to find a website showing some information about your dinosaur.

1. Think about what you might need to type in to google to find your website. Maybe the name of your dinosaur?  Make sure the spelling is correct.

2. When the search results come up, read the descriptions under the links to see if the website is suitable for you.

3. Go to the website and explore.

4. Copy the Address from right up the top, and paste it into your comment.

5. Check out some of the other kids links to learn some more about dinosaurs!

Welcome to term 2!

April 26, 2009

Hi everyone!

For this week’s blog homework, write a few sentences about ANZAC Day.

What ANZAC Day means to YOU.

For me, ANZAC Day is a celebration about Australia.  Without the soldiers that went to war for us, Australia would not be the place it is today.  That makes me happy and thankful :)

Two weeks until mothers day!

Holiday Journals

April 3, 2009

Hi kids,

If you need something to do, talk to your friends through here!  I will check every couple of days to see if I need to send any of your comments through.

You could talk about things you have done, or will be doing, surprises that you might have had at Easter time, and other things like that.

:) Have a nice holiday

Your plans for the holidays

March 27, 2009

Hi kids.

That’s two weeks in a row with no one on the behaviour chart.  Keep up the good work!

Week 10 Homework:

What are your plans for the Easter break?

I plan to do a few different things:

1. Spend time with Elyse and Raphie.

2. Sleep.

3. Spend time with my Mum, Dad, brothers and sisters.

4. Sleep.

5. Go camping down the coast for a few days (and sleep a lot while I’m there).

I hope to have a very relaxing holiday so I can come back fully charged for Term 2!

Click comments below to tell me about your holidays.

Week 9 Homework

March 20, 2009

Hi Jade A!

We had a lovely week this week with excellent behaviour!

Week 9s computer homework is as follows.

What sort of physical activity do you do?

Do you play sport?  Are you in a team?  Do you dance?  Ride your bike?  Walk to school?  Walk the dog?

Why is physical activity important to you and your family?  Look at my example in ‘comments’ :)

Countries around the world

March 13, 2009

Week 8 Homework.

Our class talks are due in  Week 10.   Find a WEBSITE that has some interesting information about the country you have chosen to talk about.

Comment about the website, and post a link in your comment.

Please look at my example!

Tell us about your family

March 6, 2009

This is Week 7’s computer homework task.

Tell us about the people in your family.  Please don’t use last names, or write your address! You might talk about:

- What are the names of the people in your family?

- What jobs do your family members do around the house?

- What do YOU do to help around the house?

- What is an activity that your family enjoys doing together?

- What makes your family special or different?

Week 6 computer homework

February 28, 2009

Comment here about your favourite pet, or animal.

In three or four sentences, tell us:

- What it is.

- What it looks like.

- What it eats.

- Why it is your favourite.

LOOK!!

February 20, 2009

This is where you can post your short journal article (week 5 homework).  It only needs to be about 2-3 sentences, but make sure you use Capital Letters and Full Stops.  If you really want to impress Mr Skippen, try using some other types of punctuation also.

Click ‘# comments’ below, and you will be taken to a new area where you can comment.  (Before your comment will appear, I will get an email asking me to check it.  It will come up on the blog once I have checked it.)
